MARKET UPDATE - UP AND RUNNING!

MARKET UPDATE - since the easing to the restrictions in the property sector we have seen a strong resurgence of demand for homes, here in lovely North Devon. During the past fortnight we have agreed over £2.5 million worth of sales, which reflects the pent up demand generated during lockdown. We have also received a significant number of new instructions, which we are in the process of bringing to the market. WE ARE VERY BUSY!

Both local and buyers from out of the area now seem to be very keen to get moving, having waited patiently for many weeks and, perhaps, having had time to pause and reflect on the lack of suitability of their current home, or realise that long standing dream of moving to the South West, especially as many will have discovered how easy to is to work from home and maybe grasp that elusive work/life balance.

Both buyers and sellers can be assured that we have now developed and implemented our COVID 19 Safety Operating Procedure, allowing us to conduct physical viewings and valuations. This strictly follows the comprehensive guidance issued by the Government, putting in place in place robust social distancing measures, for the protection of both clients and staff and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), using gloves, masks and sanitiser to ensure the safety of all. Common sense, of course, also prevails and we will allow plenty of time between accompanied viewings and vendors are vacating their homes, enabling the correct procedures to be followed.

Rightmove have issued some interesting statistics which perfectly illustrate the rise in demand and they recorded their busiest ever day on Wednesday 27th May, surpassing six million visits for the first time and up 18% on the same Wednesday in May last year! Searching is turning into action with record levels of email and telephone leads sent to agents, also up 18% on the same day last year. Further endorsing what we are seeing 'on the ground' Rightmove also state that over a quarter of people (28%) who were not planning a move before lockdown are now entering the market. Their statistics show that coastal areas of Devon and other South West regions are seeing the biggest jump in buyer interest!
