Selling a property
Buying a property
When do I have the property surveyed?

A seller is not legally bound to give any assurances as to the condition of the property and the buyer purchases it as it stands. A survey or homebuyers report is therefore strongly recommended (unless you are buying a brand new property which has the benefit of NHBC cover or similar). If your surveyor reports defects which need attention you will have the opportunity to make financial arrangements to cover the cost of remedial work if necessary and possibly negotiate a lower price with the seller if there are significant problems.

Your should arrange your survey as soon as you can after receipt by us of contract papers from the seller’s solicitors.
